ALEXANDRIA, VA. — A Virginia man pleaded guilty in a case where the FBI associated him with a violent neo-Nazi group.
Andrew Thomasberg, 21, decided on Tuesday at a federal court hearing in Alexandria, Virginia. He faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison and is scheduled to face sentencing on February 28th, 2020.
An FBI agent stated Thomasberg joined a neo-Nazi group, the Atomwaffen Division, shortly following participation in the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, which broke out in violence in 2017.
FBI agents have recovered more than 20 guns from Thomasberg’s house and found a loaded weapon in his car. Authorities say that Thomasberg illegally owned weapons as an abuser of controlled substances and obtained them illegally by serving as a straw buyer for someone else associated with Atomwaffen.
